Our Vision

“A world where translatinas protect, love and develop ourselves.”

What We Do

For more than 25 years, El/La has been an advocate in the transgender community seeking justice for translatinas. “El/La works to build a collective vision and actions to promote transgender survival against violence and disease in the San Francisco Bay Area.” Our programs directly address these issues for translatinas in the San Francisco Bay area. Together, we reflect the style and grace of translatinas to make new paths for ourselves.

Why We Do It

Because we exists in a world that fears and hates transgender people, women, and immigrants, we fight for justice. We created programs to address and help the most precarious members of our community to close the gap of inequity and injustice.

 Legality

“39% of the transLatina community reported that it is very difficult to obtain legal documents that reflect their name and gender identity.”

Employment

“57% of the transLatina community find it very difficult to access secure and well-paid employment.”

Housing

“28% of the translatina community said that it is very difficult to access safe and affordable housing.”

Healthcare

“28% of translatinas stated that it is difficult to access medical services where they are treated with integrity and respect.”
